TO PRAISE.
TO BLESS.
TO PREACH.
We are a community of young lay professionals who bring the light of the Gospel to our everyday lives through the spirit of St. Dominic.

PRAYER
Individually and communally, we adore Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, recite the Holy Rosary in honor of our Blessed Mother, and join the Universal Church in various devotions and the Liturgy of the Hours.

STUDY
We study and are formed in Sacred Truth together, especially as found in Sacred Scripture, Magisterial documents, and the eminent doctrine of St. Thomas Aquinas, all interpreted to see, judge, and act on the signs of the times.

COMMUNITY
We spend time together to form life-long bonds and friendships over community retreats, recreational activities, and simple get-togethers that give the community some time to be with each other.

APOSTOLATE
Apart from being agents of evangelization in our everyday lives, we organize initiatives to promote the Faith through the Dominican way of life, especially through youth outreach and evangelization.
"The laity are called in a special way to make the Church present and operative in those places and circumstances where only through them can it become the salt of the earth. Upon all the laity, therefore, rests the noble duty of working to extend the divine plan of salvation to all men of each epoch and in every land."

Young Thomasian Professionals
is a religious fraternity especially for young lay professionals and students, both male and female, who aim to bring the joy of the Gospel into temporal things through the spirit of St. Dominic.
The Fraternity was founded in 2008 and was canonically erected on March 19, 2022 under the Dominican Laity of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, based in the Santísimo Rosario Parish - University of Santo Tomas, Manila.
Since then, our members have engaged in a life of prayer, study, community life, and apostolate to share the fruits of contemplation according to our state as laypersons, especially centered around: community prayers in Holy Mass, the Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, and devotions; Formation and discussions on Scripture, Magisterial documents, and the teaching of St. Thomas Aquinas; Community activities like retreats, pilgrimages, and outings; And apostolates like assistance at the parish, evangelization via social media and various initiatives, and youth/student outreach.

OUR LOGO
The logo is a white shield mantled in black, often identified as a shield of the Dominican Order. A golden sun in splendor with a human face superimposed on top, often identified as the emblem of St. Thomas Aquinas and the University of Santo Tomas to symbolize the light of divine truth. This is superimposed upon a counterchanged black and white Dominican cross surrounded by a Rosary crown with roses on the Pater noster beads, symbolizing the patronage of Our Lady of the Rosary over the Fraternity.
The Laity of St Dominic are those faithful who, baptized in the Catholic Church or received into her, confirmed and in full communion of faith, sacraments and ecclesiastical governance, are called by a special vocation to progress in the Christian way of life and to animate temporal things through the charism of St. Dominic
GENERAL DECLARATIONS, 1§1
OUR PATRONS

Our Lady of the
Holy Rosary
Principal Fraternity Patroness
Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario de la Universidad de Santo Tomás is a revered image of the Virgin Mary under her title of Our Lady of the Rosary, housed at the chapel of the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, the Catholic University of the Philippines.

Our Holy Father
St. Dominic
Founder of the Dominicans
Our spiritual father who founded the Order of Preachers ("Dominicans") in the 13th century to combat error through deep prayer, intellectual study, and compassionate preaching for the salvation of souls. Until this day, his Order strives to be "champions of the faith and true lights of the world".

St. Catherine
of Siena
Patroness of the Dominian Laity
One of the Church's most influential mystics and a 14th-century member of the Dominican laity. Remaining in the world, she balanced intense contemplation with radical service to the poor and bold counsel to popes, proving that laypeople can set the world on fire.

St. Pier Giorgio
Frassati
Secondary Fraternity Patron
A 20th-century Italian engineering student, mountaineer, and social activist who became a Lay Dominican in 1922. He died at just 24, leaving a vibrant blueprint for the modern laity: combining youthful joy and outdoor adventure with fierce charity and Eucharistic adoration.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A LAY DOMINICAN?
Lay Dominicans constitute the lay branch of the Order of Preachers, formerly called the "Third Order". This means that we are also members of the Dominican Order in the fullest sense, but choose to distinctly live the charism and spirituality of St. Dominic as laypersons, formed to bring the Gospel to our everyday lives as students, workers, families, and communities.
WHO CAN JOIN THE YOUNG THOMASIAN PROFESSIONALS?
Any person above the age of eighteen (18) may join the Young Thomasian Professionals, preferably young students/graduates and/or young working professionals who study in, have graduated from, or live near the University of Santo Tomas. Nevertheless, we also admit other mature individuals who are not necessarily part of these criteria. We accept both men and women. Contact us to learn more.
HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GROUPS?
Being a Lay Dominican is a lifelong formative commitment of prayer, study, community, and apostolate, as opposed to other organizations that may simply be part-time commitments. We are bound by our profession to the worldwide Dominican Family, and are not restricted as school or parish organizations.
DO WE TAKE VOWS?
Unlike priests, religious brothers/sisters, and nuns, Lay Dominicans do not make a promise of poverty, chastity, and obedience. This means that we still live separate lives with regular control over our individual property, can have romantic relationships and get married, and are not strictly bound to obey superiors. Nevertheless, we still make profession to live according to the Rule of the Lay Fraternities.
ARE YOU A UST ORGANIZATION?
Although many of our members are active in the university and many of our activities are conducted there, we are not a student organization or an entity directly under the University of Santo Tomas. We are primarily attached to the Santísimo Rosario Parish - UST ("UST Chapel"), and are under the Dominican Laity of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, and there are some times where we coordinate with the university for various activities.
ARE THERE OTHER LAY DOMINICAN FRATERNITIES?
Yes, there are also other chapters for other locales/regions and for people with varied purposes and occupations. You may contact us via Facebook or email to make further inquiries.
